  • Summer riding requires summer riding equipment.
  • The Ciovita Tinta Flyweight Jersey offers breathability in all the right places.
  • The range includes three fits suitable for all forms of cyclists.

Having the right cycling gear can mean the difference between a good ride and a good ride. While good bib shorts often receive all the glory, a jersey that fits well, looks great and carries several small items is a significant advantage.

As runners increase their training load during South Africa warmer monthsIt is essential to have a jersey that protects you from the elements and has generous airflow. The Ciovita Tinta Flyweight Jersey is designed with this specific goal in mind.

A tight jersey for difficult outings

The range of Tinta jerseys offers bright and powerful colors that change with each season and are available in male version and female versions. I chose the Canary Yellow jersey mainly because I like being visible on the road.

I tested the jersey in Ciovita’s slim Pro Fit cut which is ideal for riders who prefer tight-fitting cycling clothing that doesn’t flap and increase aerodynamic drag.

A high-performance, form-fitting fit is designed to perform best in aggressive riding positions and works well with a bib shorts. It even works with your favorite set of bags if you go business at the top, party at the bottom.

It keeps you cool – and aero

The Tinta flyweight jersey is made with ultra-light fabrics. Design features include mesh inserts on the shoulders, sleeves and sides of the jersey that allow maximum cooling on hot summer days.

The Italian running lycra features on the front and back of the jersey a highly breathable material with two-way stretch, to ensure the jersey maintains its fit over time. The side panels and sleeves are made of polymesh.

Longer sleeves provide a bit more sun protection, additional aerodynamic benefits and maximum comfort if you are doing your riding in the drops

A great long distance jersey, for summer

Despite its faster theme, the Tinta flyweight jersey has many features that make it practical.

A wraparound elastic hem, with silicone grippers, keeps the jersey in place no matter how much you load the three deep pockets with spare parts, snacks or even an extra canister. The pockets also feature what Ciovita calls an anti-rebound system. It supports the stability of the pocket no matter what.

I have worn this jersey a lot over the past three months and it has proven to be comfortable in all conditions. Pair it with a merino wool base layer on colder mornings, or opt for the swimsuit only for hot summer days.

Deep pockets keep valuables safe, and there’s always room for more while the bold colors and fitted design look great on and off the bike.

The size is on the smaller side of the spectrum, so be sure to check out Ciovita’s size chart. I must have taken a size larger than I usually do.

In addition to their Pro Fit cut, Ciovita’s jersey range also includes Race and Sport fit options for riders who prefer a more relaxed fit that offers a good balance of performance and comfort.
