BURTON – Richard T. Reminder, 76, of Burton, died suddenly in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 3, 2021.

Born in Bedford on August 26, 1944 to the late Herbert and Rita (née Caputo) Reminder, Richard graduated from Burton High School in 1962, where he excelled in wrestling, winning numerous medals and ribbons.

Richard served in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

He loved gardening and his flower gardens were the envy of the neighborhood.

Richard also knew how to manage on the dance floor and went out dancing whenever he had the chance.

His Italian heritage has made him one of the best spaghetti sauce makers in his family.

By cycling in the parks, he was able to benefit from his love of nature. Richard’s love for travel has taken him across the county. Some of his favorite states for traveling were Florida, California, Alaska, Utah, Arizona, West Virginia, and South Carolina.

One of Richard’s favorite activities was playing cards with his family and friends. He liked all types of cards, from a simple game of Rummy to Pinochle. Richard was also a great storyteller, captivating his audience with his stories and loved to share his knowledge of history and sport with his family and friends.

For over 40 years, Richard was a member of Local 310 of the Builders Laborers’ Union.

He will be sadly missed by his family, Mary (Paul) Barcikoski of Troy Township, Rita (John) Dutton of Chardon, Tom (Dianne) Reminder of Troy, and Joan (Bruce) Luther Volny of Aurora.

He will be sadly missed by his nephews Brian (Angie) Reminder, Paul Barcikoski Jr., Gary (Rachel) Barcikoski, Quenton (Alison) Oliver, John (Andrea) Dutton, Michael (Maura) Dutton and Joe (Jamie) Luther.

Richard was also the great-uncle of Kaitlin, Christian, Austin, Olivia, John, Grace, Patrick, Monica, Rita and Joe. He was also the great-great-uncle of Henry, Kora and Nova.

He is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Rita (née Caputo) Recall; brother, Herbert Recall; niece Julie Luther; and nephew Scott Reminder.

A visit will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North Street, Chardon, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m.

A private family funeral will be held at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township at a later date.
