Alcantara becomes sponsor of the German Car of the Year program for 2022

MUNICH, June 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Alcantara, leader in “Made in Italy” luxury brand and first Italian company certified Carbon Neutral, has joined the annual german car of the program of the year as a major sponsor.

Other sponsors of the 2022 German Car of the Year (GCOTY) include ZF, KST and Bridgestone. The program is affiliated with other leading rewards programs such as india Car and Bike Awards, China Car Awards and World Car Awards.

More than 20 leading automotive journalists serve on the GCOTY award jury. Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Peugeot and Porsche were among last year’s winners. The Honda E was the big winner of 2021.

The 2022 program starts on July the 5th with a three-day GCOTY Summer Fest event in Alsfeld, Germanyfor car manufacturers, journalists and sponsors. Andrea BoragnoPresident and CEO of Alcantara, will host an exhibition showing the applications of the company’s luxury materials in the automotive industry, as well as in fashion and accessories, marine and aviation, consumer electronics, interior design and the world of art.

Judging and final award ceremonies will take place in the fall at separate events at ZF and KST facilities in Friedrichshafen and Bad Duerkheim, Germany.

Alcantara also continues to emphasize the importance of sustainability to its suppliers, encouraging them to measure, reduce and offset CO2 emissions. The company’s latest sustainability report notes that all of its ‘core’ and ‘super-core’ suppliers have achieved zero CO2 emissions records.

Additionally, the company sponsored an annual sustainability symposium in partnership with Venice International University draw attention to environmental issues. The program has involved major companies, international organizations, scientists, economists and policy makers from around the world.

Symposium participants debated how best to mitigate climate change and build a low-carbon future by engaging different levels of society with the participation of policymakers, businesses and consumers.
